Several treatments have been started for the removal of acne scars. It includes subcision, punch excision, skin graft replacement and laser techniques.

Acne breaks out and causes severe scarring that is deep, large and embarrassing. People just look out to have the solutions and treat these scars. Surgical techniques to remove acne scars have also found its place in the cosmetic surgery. The surgery is performed for the scars that are noticeable like acne lesions. It is an invasive procedure that takes time to heal but hey also leave ugly remnants behind. There are few surgical treatments for acne that are described as follows:-

Subcision

Subcision is an acne removal method in which a fine needle is inserted into the scar. Then the needle is moved under the scar surface that separates the lower and upper layers of the scar.

Blood pooling takes place under the area and starts the healing process. After this, some resurfacing techniques complete the further treatments. It is not a suitable treatment according to some experts.

Punch Excision

It is an effective treatment for deep scars. In this treatment, the doctor cut out the bottom of the scar. Then the corners are lifted and with the stitches or skin glue, they are attached together.

It is left as such till it heals. But this method has the risk of producing another scar or infection. The reason for popularity of this treatment is that it does not leave behind the possibility of skin with different texture and colors.

Skin Graft Replacement

If the acne scars are too large that they cannot be treated with punch excision method, then the skin graft replacement technique is used. The punch excision removes the base of the scar, and then a graft is cut, behind the ear so that it matches with the texture and color of the face and the wound will not visible.

The graft is inserted into the scar and attached to the outer side with the scar and then it is left to be healed. It is followed by skin resurfacing techniques that ensure that the graft and the surrounding skin matches exactly.

Acne Laser Treatment

There are generally two main types of lasers that can be used in acne scar treatment. One is resurfacing technique that uses ablative lasers and the other is non-ablative lasers.

Ablative laser technique heats and removes the topmost tissue of the skin by burning the affected area. It causes skin to tighten up, thus making scars less visible. This treatment can injure skin and have side effects in the form of red rashes.

Non ablative laser treatment brings the changes in the skin without giving any injury to the outermost layer. It stimulates the production of collagen and cell renewal.

These surgical methods offer relief from the terrible skin conditions. These methods have their side effects but are successful in eliminating these types of scars.
