Because the acne creams act locally and do not give rise to systemic side effects, they are popular modes of acne treatment. Many types of creams are available with variety of ingredients.

Though acne may result due to variety of causes, prima facie, they are the skin lesions that are seen on the outer body. So, with the first appearance of acne people think of different creams in order to reduce the eruptions. These creams contain different ingredients, though almost all aim at reducing the oil content of skin and therefore are non-oil based.

Rather, one should choose an acne cream that is water based and not oil based. This helps in keeping your skin dry and smooth. Well, this doesn’t mean that internal medication should not be used. Rather, for the acne not to recur frequently, one has to take care of internal constitutional defects. However, one can use creams after initial patch test themselves. And the internal medication cannot be or should not be used without consulting dermatologist.

If you use water based sunscreen along with this cream, it is better because it contains benzyl peroxide.
  • Neutrogena benzyl peroxide cream:- especially when the person has occasional acne break out and just face wash is not enough, you should try Neutrogena acne cream that contains 2.5% benzyl peroxide. Along with it, use some water based moisturizer if your skin is getting too dry.
  • Brevoxyl cream:- It is an acne cream for mild to moderate acne containing 4% benzyl peroxide.
  • Clearasil Ultra Rapid Action Treatment Cream:- This acne cream is said to visibly reduce acne lesions and blemishes within 3 days. Thus it is widely used by people before any ceremonial events.
  • Oxy On-the-Spot acne cream:- This is also one of the widely used product containing benzyl peroxide 2.5%.
  • Panoxyl acne cream:- It is also used for treatment of acne vulgaris. The active ingredient is benzyl peroxide 5%.
  • Provenance acne and blemishes cream- It is a natural acne product containing aloe vera, vitamin B3, keratoline, borage oil, and organic flax seed oil. This significantly reduces sebum production and skin inflammation.
  • Quinoderm cream:- It is also an acne cream that contains benzyl peroxide 10% and potassium hydroxyquinolone sulphate 0.5%.
  • Valderma cream:- contains chlorocresol 0.2% and potassium hydroxquinolone sulphate 0.2%.
