Acne problem is one of the growing problems in today’s world. Just acne scar on face disturbs the people specially the artist who perform on stage. Several laser techniques are used in this regard that have helped in removal of face marks. Though it is a costly treatment, but is also effective.

How does laser eradicate acne?

In the laser treatment, high intensity light is used to burn the damaged layers of the skin. By stopping the growth of bacteria and by shrinking the sebaceous glands, acnes can be treated effectively. Such treatments can improve the appearance of the skin and remove acne scars, but it is not a magical treatment that can be performed overnight.

Types of laser treatments

There are generally two main types of lasers that can be used in treatment of acne scars. One is resurfacing technique that uses ablative lasers and the other is non-ablative lasers.

Ablative laser

It heats up and removes the topmost tissue of the skin by burning the affected area. It causes skin to tighten up, thus making scars less visible. This treatment is more rarely used in raised scars or keloids by flattening and reducing itchiness and preventing redness of the skin.

This treatment injures skin and has side effects in the form of red rashes over it for several months. Care is required during the healing period. The wound should not be infected. Such procedure requires the multiple treatments, and the result will be visible only after the last treatment. The patient has to bear some discomfort for few months after the treatment.

Non-ablative laser

Non ablative laser treatment brings the changes in the skin without giving any injury to the outermost layer. This kind of treatment is effective to treat less severe acne scarring. It heats up the sebaceous glands, reduces the sebum production and increases the collagen formation to fill the affected acne area. It has comparatively less side effects with fast recovery.

Multiple sessions of the treatment

The treatment depends upon several factors like the medical history, location and condition of scars. This can be decided only in consultation with dermatologist.  The only factor that keeps people away from it is the cost factor.

The treatment requires multiple sessions and each session cost several hundred dollars, so the entire treatment goes up to several thousand dollars. Similarly the variations in results are also observed as the acne scars differ from person to person.

No doubt, you will be able to receive good results. There will be no scar on the skin after the treatment. Improved appearance is guaranteed with minimum acne scars. But the best remedy is to get the medical attention and not let this problem develops its roots. This will not lead to the formation of permanent scars.
