Increase Vitamin Intake To Treat Acne

One of the easiest and the natural acne treatments is the intake of certain vitamins. Vitamins are very important for healthy skin but what you need to remember is to take these vitamins in the right proportion as excess as well as deficiency can result in more acne problems.

Vitamin A is one of the most important vitamins to keep your skin healthy. The daily allowance of this vitamin is 25,000 IU but pregnant women should not take more than 10, 000 IU of vitamin A per day. Since it is a fat soluble vitamin, the excess of this vitamin get stored in the body and results in various side effects. Some of side effects caused due to the overdose of this vitamin are itching, vomiting, headaches, and nausea and so on. Similarly, deficiency of this vitamin can also cause a lot of side effects. The doctors recommend the intake of Vitamin B3, Vitamin B5 and Vitamin B6 to their acne patients. Acne patients are advised to take hundred mg of vitamin B3 thrice a day, 50 mg of vitamin B6 and vitamin B5 separately thrice a day.  Foods such as turkey, meat, wheat germ brewer’s yeast and the likes contain Vitamin B3. You can take vitamin B5 by consuming whole grain cereals, egg yolk, and organ meats and so on. On the other hand foods such as pork, fish, yeast, egg are known to be good sources of Vitamin B6. Vitamin B is also considered to be important as it can help reduce the effects of stress which is also an important cause of acne. People taking vitamin B separately are advised to take it in combination to Vitamin B complex as it ensures that your body does not become deficient of some further categories of vitamin B.

Another vitamin which is important for your skin is Vitamin E. This vitamin works as an antioxidant and also absorbs Vitamin A. One should take 400 IU of this vitamin on daily basis. The good sources of Vitamin E are foods such as raw seeds, green leafy vegetables, soybeans and nuts. Vitamin C is considered to be the only vitamin that can help in the healing process of the skin. This vitamin shows good results when it is taken with bioflavinoids; the daily intake of this vitamin should be three thousand to five thousand mg. This vitamin C is found in all citrus fruits along with potatoes, pineapple and few other fruits and vegetables. Green tea, citrus foods, onion and berries are the rich sources of bioflavinoids.

Along with these vitamins, the consumption of zinc and magnesium is also important. Zinc helps to solve the acne problem in several ways; for instance it helps in the absorption of Vitamin A and also kills those bacteria that are responsible for outbreak of acne. Similarly, magnesium controls acne as it helps in maintaining hormonal balance.
