A few years back, ultraviolet rays were considered the best form of treatment for acne, but the side effects of UV rays are considered to be carcinogenic and can cause cancer. With the arrival of laser and the same proving itself to be far more effective and far less dangerous than UV, the methods of treatment were changed.

In certain cases, a combination of both UV and laser has been found to assist in the regeneration of healthy pores. There are some other forms of laser treatment too known as resurfacing. This method is used to remove the deep holes, or pits, that are caused by severe acne. Resurfacing is also used to remove wrinkles formed on the surface of the skin due to old age.
